No-one can have missed the media coverage of the Amazon Rainforest fires. Forests provide the oxygen we need and lower the carbon dioxide level as well as providing food and a habitat for the majority of species of plants and animals on the planet.
Over the next five years, working with a local conservation group and other volunteers, we intend to plant almost 2,000 saplings. That’s a huge undertaking for a club of our size and you might say, a ‘drop in the ocean’ compared to what is needed. But we can only do what we can do and if the 600 Lions clubs in the UK and the 46,000 Lions clubs worldwide get involved we could make a massive difference.
